SIMON O. SCOTT - Power

Joined the Pennine club in 1985 as a spotty 19 year old, just out of the local school (Northern School of Hang Gliding – now Airborne).  First XC in 86 just after my first and I hope, only HG tumble!  Held the longest XC from the Lakes ever in 88 to Settle from Cock-Up (55 miles). In 1990 climbed to 12,200ft in wave at Wether fell landing at the coast nr Whitby. British HG league pilot 91 & 92 gaining British team badge and finished 9th at the 92 Madrid XC Open after flying a 100 miler on the 1st day.  I won the HG Lakes Charity Classic in 93 and came 3rd in the Airwave Challenge HG final of 1997.

I was a regional dealer for Solar Wings hang gliders during the nineties. Things slowed at little in the mid nineties as I completed a Degree and moved out of the area for 3 years which also included getting married and starting a family!

Still mad keen on flying, but now lacking time, I totally embraced the foot launched power exemption from 2000 flying un-powered and powered HGs, winning every powered HG event I entered!  Took a powered Rigid wing HG to the 2007 Paramotor Nationals, but oddly was so impressed by Reflex PPGs that I trained to fly PGs and PPGs and competed on a Paramotor in 2008.  In 2010 I finished 7th in the UK and this year 10th

I am a self confessed foot launched flying junkie!
